A collaborative workshop to better understand earth system science and human stakes
β° Β«A little more than 4 hours to try to rethink (and change) the world a little, too.Β»
Through this site, you will be able to:
- Find a workshop online or near you
- Register, via a unique code, or..
- Create an account with password
- Have certifications generated for workshops successfully completed
- Create workshops if you become a facilitator
The workshops are open to:
- Everyone, with no distinction other than the following:
- As long as you are an adult (the online workshop is recommended for those over 18, but you can come from the age of 15 as long as you are accompanied by a responsible adult also participating in the online workshop)
- Anyone who speaks correctly the language in which the session they are registering for is defined (the vocabulary is quite advanced)
- Preferably for people wishing to understand the subjects in depth: the workshop is rather expert and complex, compared to others in its family
- For the extension workshops, as long as you have done the workshops on which they depend beforehand
Conditions and operation
- Sessions are organized as soon as a workshop facilitator creates and offers a session open to the public (private sessions are not visible).
- A minimum number of people is required (5 to 9 per group in general, everything is recalled on the event page).
- The lists of participants are only locked about an hour before the start of the workshop.
- The maximum number is determined at the creation of the event, and fixed. Places are therefore limited.
- If cancellations cause this number to fall below the minimum number, sessions may be postponed or cancelled.
- There must be 1 facilitator for a maximum of 3 groups. There may be more, however, particularly for junior facilitators.
- You must arrive no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled start of the workshop, and will be considered absent if you leave before the end: plan between 4 hours 30 minutes and 5 hours (your group will determine the final time, including you).
- Times are expressed in universal time, and, when possible, converted to your local time (you will need to provide your time zone for greater certainty).
- You can (and will need to) cancel your participation yourself by following the instructions sent by email.
Prerequisites
Online:
- Have a computer for each person on the day, in a quiet place, with a internet connection (xDSL and up), equipped to communicate: speakers/headphones, a microphone and a webcam.
- A mouse is preferable to the touchpad of notebooks, but they will also do the job. A smartphone/tablet is strongly discouraged (not to say counterproductive) to participate.
- Your preferred browser (in order of preference: Chrome > Firefox > Edge > Safari > the rest).
- On D-Day, you will just need to be at the time above, connected to the Discord of La Fresque Du Système Terre and to manifest yourself there.
- For information, the workshop uses Mural.io to manipulate the material virtually (no need to create an account) and Discord as a videoconferencing tool (account to create).
Physically:
- A large table of at least 3 meters wide, and 1m50 long.
- The 71 cards, correctly printed on both sides, for physical workshops, in sufficient definition (no less than 14.5cm long for a table of at least 3 meters).
- A tablecloth on blank white paper with pencils/erasers, markers, highlighters, at least 4-5 different colors.
Its development differs a bit from its big brother, The Climate Fresk.
The total duration should be about 4 hours 30 minutes (+~15 minutes online). It cannot (and should not) be shorter than that.
Plan for the time indicated above, in a quiet place, and to have something to drink on hand, you will exchange a lot with the other participants! π
In accordance with Union laws European on the GDPR, your data will be anonymized and then deleted after processing, only the animation and management team workshop registrations will have your data during this period, and no one else. No use will be made of it outside the organization of the workshop.
The Earth System Fresco is an entirely voluntary workshop, built, organized, animated, maintained on the free time of its creator.
If you wish to become a professional facilitator, everything is your responsibility. The workshop team cannot be held responsible for anything other than the texts and illustrations of the material, provided that the latter has not been altered or disfigured. Legal action may be taken against you for this reason, and your official animation certifications may be withdrawn.
However, if you participated in the workshop, enjoyed it, or live from it and wish to encourage its creator, it is possible, from the links below. Up to you! π
